We are delighted to announce the signing of Aidan Bennett from Cirencester Town. Aidan is a 27-year old striker who has spent his whole career to date at Cirencester Town and has made over 350 appearances for them. Aidan had interest from clubs higher in the pyramid but has decided to join us in order to get back to enjoying his football.
Manager Jody Bevan was delighted to sign Aidan adding “He has been a target of mine for a long time. Everybody knows what a quality player Aidan is, and he lives in Fairford & I always felt we had a chance of signing him at some point. I know him well having been a team mate of his at Cirencester Town when he first broke into the first team and I have seen him develop over the years. Not only is he a quality player but he is also a real genuine lad who I know will fit in very well within our existing group. I have always felt his versatility has at times been a hinderance to him in the fact that he has always been shuffled around the pitch when needed. I very much see him as a forward and will fit in very well within our front three. We have come close a number of times over the last 12-18 months to signing him, but he naturally had a huge emotional attachment to Cirencester Town where he come through the youth section to play over 300 times for the first team. Aidan has found himself out of the team in recent weeks and approached me at the weekend to ask if we were still interested and I was never going to turn the opportunity down despite us being on such a good run of form. Aidan’s signing is another big coup for the club and I feel this will raise the bar again of the quality we have within the squad. I would personally like to thank Charlie Griffin, and Scott Griffin at Cirencester Town for enabling the signing to go through quickly and smoothly”
