THE League of Friends of Fairford Hospital were Fairford Town FC’s chosen Charity of the Year for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
The League of Friends is a community based charity run by volunteers and benefit from the partnership with the club, now in its second year. The charity supports services that cost over £80,000 per annum and help to bring health care as close to home as possible – working in and for the people of Fairford, Lechlade and the surrounding villages.
The League of Friends will receive the following as the club’s chosen Charity of the Year, which will run until the end of June 2017:
- One bucket collection as part of a themed home game in support of the charity
- Coverage of charity events in club’s match programme and online
- One fundraising match staged at the end of the 2016/17 season at Cinder Lane
- One fundraising event held at Cinder Lane during the season
Graham Hewitt, Chairman of League of Friends, said: “The League is very pleased that the Club has chosen us as their Charity of the Year and we look forward to a close association over the coming football season.
“To have the opportunity of working with a Football Club that has served the local area for 125 years is very exciting and it will help us continue to provide our much valued services to the community.”
