On a wet Tuesday evening (10th December) Fairford Town 1st Team faced Ardley United at Cinder Lane in a Hellenic League Premier Division fixture. With a pitch inspection at 6pm the Match referee Craig Jinks passed the pitch fit to play and testament to Martin Radway (Groundsman) for his hard work and dedication that this League fixture could go ahead, when several other games in the area were called off.
Fairford Town roared in to the game from the first Whistle and scored in the 1st minute of play when MOTM Aidan Bennett slotted in another goal since his arrival from near neighbours Cirencester Town, and a further goal by Aidan to take his tally to 2 in the game and 4 for Fairford Town and further goals from Ellis Dunton, a brace from Ben Lodge and a goal each for John Watson and Ben Saunders with a consolation goal from Mason Courtney of Ardley Utd saw the full time score 7-1 to the Cinder Lane outfit.
A blistering first half attacking display stunned the away team and at 5-0 up at the half time mark it looked like it was going to be one way traffic again in the 2nd half, but hats off to a young Ardley Utd side who never stopped battling for every ball right to the final whistle.
