What’s the story?
Saturday is the final home league game of what has been a season of change for Fairford Town Football Club. The Reds have four away games on the spin after this weekend’s contest, with plenty of points at stake as the battle to preserve Premier Division status continues. Bracknell are gunning for promotion with four games in hand on the leaders, Highworth Town – who are five points ahead.
The Reds have largely the same squad to choose from that took on Bracknell two weeks ago. On-loan Hungerford defender Kallum Thomas is available whilst young midfielder Josh Hergest and Shaun Morgan are added to the matchday squad. Top scorers Lee Smith (21) and Liam Gale (14) will look to offer the goal threat for what will be a real test.
Bracknell Town are a team in form and remain unbeaten in the league in 2018. Their latest league victory was a 2-0 win over promotion rivals Highworth Town on Bank Holiday Monday in front of a near 400 crowd at Larges Lane. Bracknell were 10-3 winners in the reverse fixture against Fairford two weeks ago, although Jody Bevan’ side had the honour of becoming the first side to score three past Bracknell this term in a league fixture at Larges Lane. A much-changed Bracknell saw off Windsor 2-1 in a Supplementary Cup tie on Thursday evening at Larges Lane.
