FAIRFORD Town were knocked out of the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup on Saturday with a 2-0 home defeat to AFC Aldermaston.
Manager Jody Bevan made several changes to the line-up that had beaten Bristol Telephones in midweek, with Callum Preece, Supermarine loanee Sam Morris and new signing Troy Weaven amongst those to start the game at Cinder Lane.
The visitors took the lead with a 12th minute opener, with the Oxfordshire side capitalising on a long throw into the box to strike first, before they doubled the lead on 18 minutes
Fairford made a change at the break with Ben Lodge returning to action after an injury lay-off, but the Reds were unable to break down a physical Aldermaston side. The visitors were reduced to nine men during a truncated second half period, with red cards issued in the 65th and 71st minute.
Fairford return to action this Saturday looking to extend their four-game unbeaten league run they head to Virginia Water in the Hellenic Premier Division, with the game to be played at Windsor FC (3pm).
