FAIRFORD Town secured a place in the third round of the Gloucestershire FA Trophy thanks to a 4-1 home victory over Longlevens.
The Reds had a barnstorming first half, racing into a 3-0 lead before an end to end second half that could have seen more goals for both sides. Swindon Town legend was amongst the crowd to see the tie – having made the draw for the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup second round before kick off.
Reserve team striker Shayne Hibbert was handed his first Fairford Town start, partnering Lee Smith up front but was winger Jason Milhench who broke the deadlock, following up his hat-trick on Saturday with a neat finish in the 22nd minute.
Josh Morse then doubled the lead on the half hour mark from close range and when Smith added the third on the stroke of half-time, the Reds had the tie sealed.
Milhench was denied by a smart low save from visiting stopper Mark Harris before Martin Brad scored what proved to be a consolation for the Premier Division side with 20 minutes remaining.
Smith added a fourth in injury time after a move involving Morse and Hibbert to round off another impressive display from the Division One promotion chasers.
