FAIRFORD Town Under 18s have withdrawn from the Wiltshire Senior League U18 league due to a lack of player commitment.
With another call off at short notice before the home league meeting with Chippenham Town on Wednesday, the Reds were left with little option but to notify the league of their decision.
Club Secretary Bill Beach commented: “It’s unfortunate that it has come to this at this early stage of the season, but it wouldn’t be fair to other teams in the league to continue with such uncertainty.
“The club laid on a tremendous platform for young players to come and play; with the facilities, pitch, management and fixtures. However, with despite the best efforts of the U18 management team there was little option but to withdraw from the league.”
He added: “The club continues to offer young players a pathway to the first team via the reserves and we would encourage any talented, ambitious youngsters to get in touch to continue their football development.”
